We like Legian Beach Hotel which is very convenient to beach and restaurants and of course, shops, and is not inundated with children. And then a couple of days stay in Ubud.
Try some day trips - white water rafting, elephant rides, volcano bike rides, hire a driver for the day - and you will have a great time!
