got back saturday after 12 nights at camplung mas in legian.
flew with garuda but next time will try air paradise we had the 737 both ways and the service is pretty slow and little chance of alcohol [avoid row 15 if you can it seens to be where the service trolleys end so food is cool and no choice].
camplung mas was our third stay and although craig jones was there quite often on meetings he told us it had been a struggle getting money from the owner for improvements but it was now coming through.
food was mediocre so we tended to eat across the road at the villarisi which was cheap and very good standard on both indonesian and western food.[150,000rp for four inc. drinks]
hotel bar staff were friendly as usual but didnt seem to want to put on music cd's and relied on kuta radio sso it lacked atmosphere also the bar desperately needs low level fans as the humidity was extreme and the old fans had been removed.
if you stay there please say hi to yasmin the restaurant waitress she made our stay so much better with her cheery smile and desire to learn all your names.
as an aside she is married with a baby 8 months old and earns 385,000rp per month [$60] we have decided to support her as best we can and left her a heap of baby medicines etc. and 500,000rp to make life a little easier and will send money when friends visit kuta]
the streets are a lot busier than two years ago but found the legian area bars and clubs very quiet in the evening. we used bali rock legend stadium [legian] posers and hulu cafe [gotta go there it was a scream some of those girls, sorry i mean boys are so beautiful i thought about batting for the other side].
rate was 7250rp most oe the time we were there but i was surprised how many businesses had closed since 2993, mataharis legian copa cafe melasti street and the brand new shopping area next to camplung mas.
hilights.... making the 29kg limit on all our bags [lucky they didnt weigh cabin bags] waterbom park[as always], hulu cafe ,food at villarisi ,yasmins smile, ubud monkey forest [did see a major attack on one couple with son on the steps down to river at rear of temple the husband was bitten three times on leg and wife hysterical] , the lovely balinese and their smiles ,discovering geneva after forum recommendations, low points .....the bloody humidity [we normally go july/august] ,having 5 quarantine officers check all the wood my wife insisted on bringing back [we were the last ones out of the airport]and missing going to s and s for a sunset drink as there weren't any sunsets in the last eight days.
well that's it any questions i will check on wednesday so for now thanks bali and i owe i oweso off to work i go cheers dave
