Most of all the major banks that have gold cards come with free international travel insurance and many of the banks dont advertise the fact! We pay for our trip on our gold card and are immediatley covered for ALL cancellation, luggage lost, medical expenses and a huge range of other claims - only catch is $200 excess which we are happy to pay as travel insurance with most companies for a family of 4 - 10 days in bali is around $150-200. we claimed when we were back from Europe in 2000, for some doctors bills and a lost baby sling (I left it on the plane going over- arrrrggghhh) and had no problems whatso ever.
Check to see if your credit cards provide any international travel insurance!
