When I left bali recently we were also approached by quite a sour looking individual with a handful of gold coins wanting to change them. I had quite a bit of unwanted rupiah but didn't go for it at first. I then though, what the heck, and approached him with 70,000 rupiah for what I thought would be 5x$2 coins. He tried to give me quite a few piles of 20c coins all neatly stacked and wrapped up with tape. I had no room for this type of coinage and said for him to give me the $2 coins he was carrying.
So now I know why, I wonder which coin of their's is the same as our 20c?
And I know it would not be the greatest rip off of the century if it came off - it just gives you the s***s!
