I have been travelling to different parts of Indonesia on and off over the last five or so years and use Bali as either a bit of R&R from the rigours of hard travelling or as an easy entry or departure point. Since I live in West Oz its really cheap and quick to get there, its in the same hemisphere so I can travel during the summer holidays and its close enough to come home if theres any crisis that needs me to see to. Another great thing about Bali is that there are so many options. Theres bars, clubs and shopping if thats your thing, theres beach, surf and diving if thats your thing and theres culture, language and history if thats your thing. And all on one tiny little very accesible island!
