If i'm paying money to stay somewhere, i want it to be nice. And I was sceptical about the Niksoma but we booked a suite and found it lovely. However there were a few minor things, like holes in the basin where the taps are, sections along the bath un grouted. But besides that it was very clean, very comfortable and i could not fault it. The pool area was lovely and i could not fault the service. 14 months before hand we stayed at the Padma, and although that was meant to be 5 star, it was dated and i would put it right up next to the Niksoma in quality.
Didn't look at the other rooms however. There were rooms right at the back of the hotel, i assume they were the standards. I dont think i would stay there. But the junior suits were close so i would think they were fine. If you stay in a suite, ask for a room on the top floor as we were on the bottom and had some elephants with kids above us!
