the Melasti is right on the beach, very good value for money, food not great but there are so many good places to eat close by its not a problem. I would say its mostly suited for families but if you arent going in the school hols it shouldnt be a problem.
The Padma is pretty pricey and huge ( got lost in the grounds ) but very nice , also on the beach on the same "strip" as the Melasti.Havent stayed there but have had friends who have and loved it.
Anywhere along that beach strip is fantastic as far as position for good shopping ( Seminyak ) and also great restaurants ( also Seminyak and closer ).The Rama Gardens is supposed to be great, a very intimate little hotel but not that close to the beach if you want to be right on it. Other reccommendations would be for a couple definately the NIKSOMA ( just up from the Melasti ) which would be perfect for you I would think, or the Kumala Pantai ( which I am staying at in April).You may not have too much choice if you are there in the holidays and I think you will have to book very soon regardless so I hope this is some help to you.Enjoy !!
