At least you are prepared for the fact that it's not going to have the new 'glossy' brochure look. That said ..it doesn't mean it won't be suitable or that you won't like it?
As for hotel problems, realistically most hotels probably fall into that category.
I suppose it comes down to what you can afford, are willing to accept & what your expectations are.
Other options ...Mimpi Menjangan,Puri Ganesha (maybe too pricey), Aneka Bagus...?
I stayed in a homestay when in Pemuteran, so cannot really comment on the bigger hotels.
