We are heading to Bali in 3 weeks and have had similar problems deciding where to stay. Our holiday was a impulse and lots of places are booked out. We have 2 13 yr old twin girls and have travelled extensively with them. We find at the age they are now it is great to have interconnecting rooms so they and we have own space. We have just booked at the Patra Bali-supposed to be very nice but the Bali Hai was also highly recommended. They are a bit further out which doesn't worry us as we have stayed at the Intercontinental and found this great. Cabs are very cheapand it's nice to get away from the crowds. We have just run out of time to book and had to book somewhere. Legian is a great spot if you want to be nearer to Kuta - Bali Padma would be my pick or another hotel in Sanur we found which looks great and had great feedback on this forum was Griya Santrian. We could not get into Bali Padma or Santrian at such short notice. Hope this helps.
