The term "demam berdarah" is a non specific, non medical term that is used locally to mean anything vaguely dengue or Malaria-like.
If someone develops the symptoms you describe above it's automatically called demam berdarah without any medical diagnosis.
There are a few others such as masuk angin which are equally vague and get used for just about anything when you're not feeling right.
