Tipping is not expected in Bali, except by airport porters. Although this seems to be changing due to many's generosity. So how much you give is up to you. There is no formula. It is a gift.
If the $1 is a coin they will have trouble exchanging it. If it is a gold colour like our AUS, they will melt it down to make rings.
