That might sound silly, but I've heard the term "raw sewerage" many times, so SOMEONE must be cooking it.
Heat kills the virus. You can't get it from eating meat or eggs, unless they are covered in chicken poo and you eat them raw.
This is mentioned in almost every article about bird flu. Why do people only ever read just enough to scare themselves?
