We drove ourselves to gillimanuk and back again in one day. It probably doesn't take quite that long to get there, just depends on the number of trucks on the road, they push you off the road.
Not many places to stay, we did stay at a homestay at medewoi and there are a few there butI would just come back, you may have trouble getting a driver to come back and get you if you stay.
