We have just come back from Bali and also went to the orphange in Gilamanuk. We went there and back in a day but it was a bit rushed.The children do not get home from school until 4.00p.m. and we missed out on seeing most of the children. I would recommend you staying over night possibly at Negara which is approx 30 minutes from Gilamanuk.
If you wanted a driver we have one that you could use for the 2 day trip. We have been to Bali 8 times and he is a very careful driver.Hope this helps and if you have any other questions about the orphanage please do not hesitate to ask.
