One of our must do's for Bali was to take a cooking class (or two or three) and I'd read alot about the one at Casa Luna. We took the combined market tour class & it was very interesting - great photo ops!
The only thing I didn't account for was the heat. We're just not used to it here in Canada. I tell folks here at home: imagine our hottest day, add 5 more degrees and 80% more humidity and then stand over a stove for 3 hours after a 2 hour stroll through the market in 32 degree weather. It was a bit wilting to say the least and after that one cooking class was enough for the trip.
The food was wonderful - we got lots of tastes of things that we had seen from the market tour and lunch after the class was incredible. A real bargain at 200,000Rp for all.
There were quite a few ingredients - spices etc. that you just wouldn't be able to get back here at home to repeat the experience, although they were available for sale at the market. I wondered about being able to bring them back through customs.
I was really interested in the granite spice grinder they used & they are available everywhere in the market, but heavy so taking one home again was a consideration for the luggage weight allowance.
Fun, interesting, but one was enough (per trip) for me anyhow.
I'd wouldn't mind trying again at a different class on my next trip esp. now I'd be prepared for some of the things I'd mentioned.
We did meet some very nice other classmates who gave us great advice on where else to go & what to see while in Bali. We went to Nusa Lembongan based on their adventures & recommendation.
Good luck. Have fun.
