Have just arrived back after 10 days at the Sofitel , had no complaints at all .Before we went had many reports about this Hotel and had us worried to the extent that I rang our travel agent with our concerns , that we read on the Bali Travel Forum site
For those intending staying at the Sofitel I would recommend it with no reservations at all
They are still doing renovation work on some of Garden View Rooms and the Bar area around the pool
I guess the only negative comment we would make ,that being no musical entertainment and no Happy Hour (having been to Phuket Penang etc many times ) we found the happy hour a great way to meet and enjoy others company
Eating in and around Seminyak we found to be a great experiance ,try Rumours , Trattoria ,these 2 cost us about $20 for us both. Gado Gado more up market.Ku De Ta for an eating experience (Take your credit card ) cost us about $70 each but worth it ,you must ring and book
