I agree with you it was only for 1-2 cents or even less. but Matahari thinks it is worthwhile to save 1-2 cents. It would be quite a lot for them daily so it is worthwhile for them, Matahar is a big business- DJ or Myer in Australia ( maybe). It was like Myer stop giving us a change of 5 cents.

What can we buy with 5 cents in Australia? not much. Will we tolerate such practice in Australia? No.

What would I have done with the coins from Matahari if correctly given? It would have gone to housekeeping at my hotel.

I did not like it because it was done by a big business ( one of the biggest in retail business) and systematic exploitation of tourists- very well thought and executed.

Sometimes I got 3 lollies in one transation-Rp 400. I did not get any lollies when it was Rp 50. Their smallest currency is Rp100 as far as I know.

I felt bad because Matahari thinks we are real suckers, just happy regardless of how we get treated. We are tourists, not brainless.

One of the local people told us that it started with Matahari and now the practice has spreaded to other businesses such as petrol station- 3 lollies for Rp 800. He did worse than I did. !!!
