This place is down on the harbour, it's part of all the new development near Crowne Plaza. There are about 6 places all next to each other, you can sit outside on nice lounges - might be a bit cold there though if it ends up being a night get together.
I know what you mean about the Beaches, could be too noisy.
Noahs would be good, they have a set menu for lunch on Sundays which is supposed to be pretty good. There's no better view of the beach in Newcastle!
