We normally take our kids about April. The rainy season is over and the winds are shifting around.
The beaches have always been fine and the kids have never had an ear infection from surfing. I do not let them out in the surf here after heavy rain as the beach is full of all sorts of crap (literally). The same applies to Bali. Sanur is protected during the rainy season. Tuban is protected because of the reefs.
