Go to Matahari (or similar) and buy a small electric jug to boil water in the room yourself. Then you'll have no concerns about the safety aspect. You can get them really cheap - under $5.
Don't worry about ice. That used to be a problem maybe 10-15 years ago, but it's not anymore. Just enjoy the drinks as they are. Of course if you're in a small out of the way warung that might be a different story, but in the main tourist areas, the ice is all govt supplied and regulated.
Kids can have soft drinks, which come in bottles. Juices etc are all ok to have.
Don't worry about drinks in the main tourist areas. They're not a problem.
