Ask at the desk for A$A money changers, they are about 100 to 200 meters to your right or left and accross the street. In Kuta there are many to be trusted.
Your first morning take a cab to the Aston Bali (less than #1US) cross the street and walk away from your hotel. Check out menus displayed outside restaurants and talk to the guy who will come out a get cards and discounts for the nights ahead. Get your exersize some other time and take a cab to dinner (again less than a $1 and why get sweaty for dinner). Two that I really like because of the layout are Nyoman Bali and the Mini. You will get a couple of Bintangs 2 appetizers and 2 mains (I like Red Snapper and always lots of satay) they will bring you a fruit plate for dessert, you will leave a nice tip and only spend $10. The others are just as good ,but these 2 are a little more comfortable.
Any laundry is fine. Just go by their hours.
No reason to eat in the hotel unless they have one of those free breakfast buffets. They tend to be great. No hotel massge. Once again they are all good. The one I like best is between the Aston Bali where you took yourcab the first morning and the Oasis Benoa next store. You will have one lady on each leg, and one on your back. They don't understand harder, but know strong or strong strong. 45 minutes 50% tip and still pay less than $5. Tell them the guy from California sent you and get a big smile.
If you're into fitness let me know and I have some great reccomendations. Have fun. Don't hesitate to ask more.
