Hi Sonia, The beach behind the Dynasty and all along there is not dirty but the sand is dark because it is volcanic.
You can sunbake on the point near Kartika Plaza about 100m from the Dynasty but you will get hassled by the hawkers on the beach.
I wouldn't swim there because of the rips and the unpatroled beach but it's ok for a quick dip. Don't leave valuables on the beach. If you leave the hotel and turn right at the beach you can walk into Kuta. Only bout a 15 min walk and the beaches are a lot more attractive. Swim between the flags.
In the evening about 5.30 the tide is out and you can watch the sunset as you walk back to the Dynasty and have a freeeezing cold drink by the pool.
