This is a great thread and I also hope others continue it.
I didnt want to ramble on too much but I wish that I could go back to that first trip and take it all in again. We shared so many laughs and the trip to the monkey forest was hysterical as we watched this guy go from legend to loser in the space of a minute. He bravely let this big monkey climb up on top of his head. Everyone was taking photos and urging him to keep the monkey up there so they could video etc. He was a legend .... until the monkey urinated all over him.
God it was hysterical every one roared with laughter. It was priceless. Thank god he wasnt on our tour bus!!!
In October 1985 I met a girl also travelling on her own. She was from melbourne but now lives in Perth. The friendship we developed has survived & stood the test of time & distance. We visit each other when time permits & in 2000/ 2004 we caught up in bali. This year is our 20 year anniversary meeting and we hope to return 20 years on and catch up again in Bali....[although I am trying to talk her into Vietnam to add a new chapter to our lives.]
