Yes robrose I agree with you, there is something in the water, just dont drink it!!! :-)
I now go back there regularly because other friends are holidaying there, and of course to see my Balinese friends, and of course the obvious it is still a cheap holiday and only a 5 hour flight away..
Bali has an innate beauty that we are drawn to, and once we see through the brashness of somewhere like Kuta, and 'beyond the square' we are able to accept it warts and all.
What we first see as negatives are realistcally just differences to what we are accustomed. I guess it goes back to the old adage of do you see your cup as half empty or half full.
