I first started reading this forum 6 years ago just before my last trip to Bali. Since then I keep on reading and have been interested in everyone's very different experiences. Even though I have no intention of buying DVDs (since I don't have a player!) I'm quite fascinated how people seem to buy hundreds on their trip. I guess if you have kids it might make sense, but then to each their own. I also think that a lot of the advice given is invaluable not only to first timers, but those who just want to be more informed and try something new. I first went to Bali in 1975 and it's certainly changed. I don't see the place through rose coloured glasses, but still have a special love for the people, the culture and the whole Bali experience. This time we've booked to go back on April 25 to the Sofitel Bali - which when I last stayed there was the Bali Imperial. We'll be meeting up with a good mate who's in Bali for three months doing a research paper. Our holiday will be a mix of relaxing and exploring.

Just one question - I've looked up in the archives, but can someone tell me if it's too much of a hassle paying the VOA in Australian dollars. Do they just calculate it on the rate of the day? If this is $35 and you don't have exact money, would this be a problem? Perhaps I'll just bow to the power of the US dollar and get that currency first.

So thanks everyone for providing me with interesting reads over the years. Every now and then I wonder what happened to old posters of the past such as Brooksey and Koala.
