Hi We just returned from 3 weeks in Bali..here are my ideas...I would definitely go to Pemuteran area as the snorkeling is amazing. We stayed 30 minutes east of there at Zen Lifestyle Resort near Serririt. Check out their website. It was an amazing place, really reasonable prices, such nice people, great atmosphere, good pool and view, the best food! Small place....they take you with their driver for the snorkeling, It is a 50 minute drive to boat and then an amazing trip...which is the same if you were in Pemuteran but this place we loved...Its a 3 hour drive to the north (go thru Bedugal and Munduk) so you need 2-3 days
Our friends stayed at the Legion and the Le Meridien and we visited both.
Le Meridien is magnificent but out of the way....about a 30 minute taxi to Semniyak...the Legion is amazing... great location...but tres expensive...you maybe could stay at both?
We stayed at the Hotel Tjamphuan in Ubud which was magical....
They stayed at Alila and said it was ok...
if money is no object the Pita Miha which is owned by the same people as Hotel Tjamphuan is incredible...in person you can ask for discount....not sure if on internet or calling...
