Scooters

Hello, we are heading over to Bali, staying in Kuta (Troppo Zone) for 8 nights and were wondering about hiring scooters or something similar to get around while we are there. Does anyone think its necessary? and what are the costs invloved? and what sort of license or age do we have to have?
