Yes, it is more miles, but as now everything is booked sector by sector there is now no stopover fee (10,000 previously)
Also, if you have kids with only a few points, you can now transfer those points into your account, there is a list of "relatives" eligible for this at their site (only once a year, though!!)
At least this is my understanding of how it's going to work
