I ran into the same prob but there is a solution. Go to a $2 shop, buy the cheapest ugliest lamp you can find ($6-$10) and then take it home and smash it to bits. I put a tea towel over first then BANG. You'll get the inside bit that you require and away you go.

I had a nasty man at Bunnings tell me that I'd have to pay an electrician and that there was no way to wire one easily and safely.
I saw on one of those home improvements shows that you can indeed buy that part and it sells for $29.95. So a big saving was had.
