Hi Amanda,
I trust that you don't mean that the advice you are giving is the "written law' of this country. If you do could you please pass on to me the source of your information so that I can bring myself up to speed. I have just returned from the 4WD Show over here in Perth where, as part of the the exhibition, there was an Aust" Customs stand. As a result of the comments so far on this thread I asked their opinion on the matter. They agreed with what I had already said and suggested that everybody reads the phamplet I mentioned earlier.
In short you are allowed to bring back 250 cigarettes ino this country no matter were you may have purchased them. There are no exceptions and no written law suggesting other than this. Any other advice is incorrect and, possibly, illegal. For those of you who may have doubts look up the rules on the Aust' Customs website, ring Customs direct or do both. Whatever you do though, make sure you know the actual rules before you go because when you get home the onus will be on you to prove that what you have is acceptable by Australian law.

Cheers

Maverick
