stoneware we bought from Bali. As promised I can now tell of our experience. Our Cargo company was great, stayed in touch and did alot of extra's for us. But here were our hidden costs...

We bought a day bed, 8 dining chairs and a corner lounge and coffee table, made from a rattan shop made from Water Lily, well wasn't it fun trying to get it back into the country. We also bought a water feature, 4 pots, a large garden lantern and stone wall hanging for above water feature all made out of stone.

Costs:

To purchase - $ 1,130.00 Aus.
Cargo Cost: $ 1,240.00 US
Duty (Paid to Customs) $ 56.50 Aus.
GST (Paid to Customs) $ 118.65
Australian Quarantine $ 100.00 This was an application fee to bring
Water Hyacinth into the country (Paid to Canberra).
Transitainer Fees - $ 940.22 Aus.
LCL Fees (Paid to Quarantine) - $ 81.75 Aus.
Patricks Inspection Fee - $ 220.00 AUS.
A removalist to bring home - $ 300.00 AUS.
Dumping of 3 large Crates at Patricks - $ 55.00 Aus.

It took alot of stuffing around with customs and quarantine as we never used a broker cause they were just too expensive.

Our permit was granted but it took several calls and emails to the supplies in Bali for manufacturers reports to see if we had to pay an extra $250 (approx). to have extra fumigation done.

Would I do it again - NO... not with plant products anyway.

Our permit is valid to use until 2006 but only from the same supplier.
