I think the most important thing to do is winning influences inside Indonesian Military inner circle and these are the tasks of American and Australian governments to acchive it.
It was obvious in Sydney Jones reports that Al queda through its proxy Jemaah Islamiyah has significant power in Indonesian military decision making, in other word some bad guys have been there.
Lifting US sanction against Indo Military is a right judgement on the War on Terrorisme, but at the same time those crooks should be eliminated from Indonesian Military Forces and replecing them with 'our men'.
Military Forces as an Institution of any given country is just like a gun. It will be so dangerous in the hand of criminal, but itwill be useful for a good citizen.I'm not a NRA member or defender, though,
So Cliff, in my opinion it's useless to repeatedly attack Indonesian Military Institution as you did in this forum over the past more than six month. It would be better strategically if you would give ideas how to reform it. You know Mayor General Endriartono Sutarto has a plan to reform military organization, but unfortunately there is currently a turf battle ( indeed the battle between the group which support terrorisme and the group which is against it) among members of legeslative body about who will be the chief of TNI during SBY tenure .
What should Aussies do in Bali ? Just enjoy your trip, you have worked hard for years and you deserved to get a nice holiday.
Be nicer ? How could I be nice if somebody ripped me off ?
