I changed my passport only a couple of weeks ago to my married name. All I had to do was take in my Celebrants marriage certificate and Proof of ID to Births, Deaths and Marriages, and the Registrar issued an 'official' marriage certificate which is accepted by the Passport office as acceptable proof of name change. I am in Melbourne. It cost $17.50 for the certificate, and nothing to update my valid passport. The info on the internet is still the same as a couple of weeks ago...
