I had 17 kilos excess and was told Id have to pay for 5 kilos , and 2 other ladies from sydney were being charged for 10 kilos exess ( I think they were 25 kilos over) on 11th july 2004 flights.
In one respect, Im not complaining in that I could have been charged for the whole 17 kilos, although once on board and talking to others they too were over, by similiar amounts but they didnt get asked to pay for excess. Maybe my mistake ( apart from visiting geneva handicrafts and finding a fantastic quilt place and getting 2 quilts) was to have 2 bags! Hand luggage didnt appear to be an issue- in theory spose to be 7 kilos and a certain size I undertstand but I didnt see anyone getting hand stuff weighted or measured up against the standard size chart.
