get a good deal by approaching the hotel direct when you are there BUT this is not always the case. I can remember late last year I had Phil( of Phil & Melissa ) check out the walk in rate of the Bali Garden for me & it was 1/2 as much again vs if I booked in Oz.Where as in Ubud we got great walk in rates.
It's all a risk & a chance you take.I've never stayed at Nusa Dua so can't help you re hotels but if I was you I'd maybe email a few places there & try & see what you can negotiate online.You may end up doing better than you think.Maybe some forumites who've been there can help you with email addy's for hotels.Keep in mind that the time you are talking is the most expensive time of the year so maybe don't expect to do as good as you may have done at other times of the year.Keep in mind that if you narrow yourself down to only 1 or 2 choices & leave it until you get there that they may be booked out over the busy Christmas & new year season.As I said check out as many places as you can online.Go & look at Mic's site re hotels you'll get good info there & probably some email addresses.Good luck.
