Accommodation late Dec/early Jan

I am having a really hard time finding accommodation in Nusa Dua at a realistic price in late December early January for a 2 week stay. I was thinking of booking something in Kuta for 7 nights and then while I am in Bali book direct with a hotel in Nusa Dua for the remaining 7 nights. IS THIS A BAD IDEA???? Any suggestions? I have never been to Bali at this time of year. Thanks in advance.
