Election "jitters" played a part, but the "big picture" was the US dollar and the Feds increase in interest rates. Virtually all Asian currencies experienced a similar weakening to the US dollar during the time the Indonesian rupiah weakened.
I do agree however that likely we will see another slight weakening in late August, up to the run off election in early September, but not to the extent we saw this happen in late June.
