The Rupiah has strengthened temporarily because there were no big riots or other unrest as a result of the elections in early July. Currency traders do not like uncertainty. When there is uncertainty in Indonesia the Rupiah weakens. But there will be a run-off election in mid-September, so uncertainty (and jitters) are likely to arise again about August or early September, and the Rupiah may weaken again at that time.
