Am a new member of the forum but have been reading the great information for many months. Have just returned from my 6th trip to Bali but have found the information I got from the forum to be invaluable. Had a great time except for a few hicups along the way. First a member of our group was travelling on an Irish passport and had to obtain a VOA before leaving Perth. Didnt know this until we went to book in. Luckily our Garuda flight had been delayed 3 hours which enabled him to make a dash to the Indonesian Consulate, get a visa and make it back to the airport with 15 minutes to spare.Arriving at tha Dynasty one of the girls realised she had left her bag containg all her money and credit cards in the taxi,so her hubby and my hubby jumped in another cab and raced back to the Denpassar airport, found the cabi and thank heavens her bag was still in the back of the cab. She made the taxi drivers day be tipping him A$20. Bought back heaps of DVD's(about 250) which we bought from various places and all the ones we have tried so far have worked.Ate at many of the restaurants recommended on the forum and heres how our group of nine rated them.
Number one we would give to Koris in Poppies Lane2. A little more expensive but well worth the visit.
No 2 to the Pantai- we took an esky full of Bintang and sat on the beach watched the sun set then ate at the restaurant. Great food and great setting.
No 3 T.J's mexican
No 4 Poppies
No 5 Ma Jolley -great setting , fine dining at its best.
No 6 The Pub- best satay sticks and best barman in Bali- Made has been there 27 years and the bintangs are always cold
No 7- Gracie Kelly's in the Dynasty- great fun and great food
Others we ate at included Daddy's Cafe and Bali Aussie for breakfast-both very good. Wasn't over impressed with Indo National food although the service was good. Found the Green Gardens to be very slow on the service.
Stayed at the Dynasty again and could'nt fault it. Our friends ended up staying next door to another formite- Lethal Lee- and our kids absolutely loved their 3 gorgeous girls.
Did rafting again but this time on the Tw river- loved it.
Paying 15,000 for the copy T Shirts and found the clothes in the real surf shops to be about $25-30 cheaper than in Perth.
Just a word of warning- Ihave been to Bali a few times before and have never gone to the monkey park but went this time cause my daughter wanted to - and I ended being bitten by a monkey(without any provaction on my part). Had a rabies shot and a tetanus shot at the BIMC(dont hesitate in using this if you have to) and have to have 4 more rabies shots now I've returned to Perth.Price of the shots in Bali was ging to be about 8,000,000 rupiah but was free when I received them in Perth. I'm glad it was me and not one of the kids.
Lethal Lee is still up there(lucky buggar) and still enjoying his Bintangs.
