Lombok is a rare and wonderful place. The people are terrific on this predominantly Muslim Island. Great sightss to see and a marvellous vaiety of places. Go everywhere, visit the Gili ISland, Kuta Lombok, and travel the island. MAtaram, Ampenan and Cakra are great places to visit or to stay. Senggigi is fun if you want western/asian textures.
I have stayed at Intan - a comfortable place, right on the beach.
You will probably find Lombok a bit cheaper than Bali. Enjoy!
