I was in Lombok in 1999 and found it to be just idyllic
driving through the villages everyone would wave and smile - its was really special and so not touristy!
the weaving villages are great, Kuta beach is so far from bali's kuta its untrue, hire a driver in sengiggi to take you round the island for the day!
the gillis are great too - def dont miss them!
