I was only able to get 1,250,000 rph at a time with my ANZ card, although I did do it twice on the one day no problem. There was a $% fee on my statement for each time. We took lots of cash and instantly put it in the security box, in envelopes with $100 for each day and a slush fund of another couple of 100. Just remember that a fat wallet does not mean the same as it does at home- I once (well twice) felt my wallet was fat, yet ran out of money quickly- not that I bought much, but if you buy eg. a bed spread and a few bits and pieces cos you just had to have it and you may never get back there again....... well 350,000 rph can make that fat wallet thin!! Also, in the outlying districts ATM's are not always that easy to find close by.
