The going rate for a driver for the day is 300,000rp, about 150,000 for half day. That includes their petrol and any admittance fees.
You can pay less and probably pay more.
I think its very important to hire a driver who obviously can speak your language fluently and understand your questions and take you to places that you suggest you are interested in.
If you are travelling locally we usually hail a metered cab and have them wait whilst we shop, visit etc.
