Our time back in England was wonderful and we loved every minute catching up with the rellies and old friends. I was 'horse' for most of the time with too much talking, laughing and drinking. However, we did change our flights and left England 3 days earlier than planned, not because we wasn't enjoying ourselves but we was exhausted with driving up and down the country (also we flew out to Jersey for a wedding... that was very special for us) Anyway, the weather in May was just ordinary and we was hanging out for a bit of sun so we decided to have slightly longer stay in Phuket at the Busakorn Wing/Holiday Inn (our favourite hotel)
As we stayed with family and friends so our costs were nominal. My brother 'don't' cook so it was pub grub with can be costly. My sister cooked up a storm every meal and wouldn't allow us to contribute. Our friends were the same. sometimes we shouted, other times we paid our own way. We took $3,000 cash and spent about (2,300)in 2 1/2 weeks although I used my credit card a couple of times. The rest was used in Phuket.
We have only been on a 'cheap and cheerful' to Majorca from England so I can't help you with prices. I thought we did very well but had we been paying for hotels and meals out every night...it would have cost a fortune. Did you ever watch the London Heathrow doco 'Airport' we met the photographer and the police women who was on it... I was rapt and got a photo of me with them (how could the paparazzi refuse LoL) Don't suppose this has helped much. Hope you have a wonderful time over there, I love England but I love Australia more. Cheers Geri
