I totally agree with Colleen first aid and CPR is a must know. Most employers are and if not should be providing this training under our current OH&S legislation. I was a lifesaver at Bondi Beach for 20 years and can testify to the simplicity of someone drowning. I have unfortunately been in the situation of having to utilise my training for victims, ( some successful and some not ) and I too have witnessed the crowded masses standing idly by. I have asked for assistance at times and the answer was invariably I am not sure what to do. For your sake, your family and friends sake, even for the sake of total strangers please do not put yourself in that position. Instruction is cheap, effective and basically available anywhere. The knowledge that you have saved a life through your intervention whomever it might be will change your life forever.
