Ive spent the better part of the last 2 days searching these archives and reading as many posts as i can and im starting to wonder if we've made the right choice with Bali...there are many who love the island and quite a few who didnt...whats making us nervous is in reading some of the positive posts we've found quite a bit thats made us nervous ie:"if you want nice beaches go to Hawaii" esp since thats one of our favourite islands and a top prority on a holiday...let me tell you about us....my hubby and I are both professionals who work ridiculous hours and take as many holidays as we can mainly to beach destinations....we're Canadians by the way....we've travelled for a month 4 years ago...to Australia and Fiji staying on Hayman island and the Sheraton Port Douglas (loved both and we're crazy about fiji too) also to the gold coast(werent too impressed) and sydney....last year we spent a month in Tahiti Bora Bora and Moorea, we've travelled extensively through the Carribean and go to Hawaii and its islands at least once a year....we always stay at 5* properties...we enjoy lovely white pristine beaches,moonlit strolls, clear water, snorkelling privacy,peace and quiet, fine food and wine, we're not big sightseers although when we do sightsee we enjoy natural beauty, lovely mountains, oceans etc...we're not the museum, cultural type....we are to quote a previous post "overly pampered" on a holiday....we were planning a trip that included Bali and included a stay at thye Amandari, Amankila and Four SEasons.....however we dont want to spend all our time in the hotels and based on what Ive read feel we may end up doing just that...Ive explained what I can about us with the hopes that those of you who love the island will tell me whether we'd be better off trying another destination...ie other south pacific islands like the cooks, and fiji, cause i really dont want to be a dissapointed bali returnee,,....every place is not for everyone and Im wondering if Bali is for us
