Just remember the caste system is still very much alive there and as the greater majority of balinese are from one of the lower castes, you will find this is one very big reason why they would be feeling uncomfortable in those situations. Also it can be easily construed by other balinese that they be a gigolo or prostitude. Kuta scene is quite different as are balinese teenagers.
