My wife and I have been to Bali enam kali and the last 3 times in the Legian Area (Melasti, Jayakarta and this year at the Puri Raja). This
year in May during our stay there was much upheaval on the beach
with the beach hawkers many of whom we had befriended over the years.
They were banned from operating on the beach when we left for home and there was talk that when operations resumed it would only be for
those hawkers who actually lived in the Legian area. They were all very sad understandably for losing their livelihoods and it
reflected on our stay as well as we had come to know and love some of them quite well - a lass called Lily (manicure/pedicure) (outside Melasti), Melissa (clothing) - Puri Raja, Freddy (Watches) and
Mama (old lady #10) outside Jayakarta just to name a few. Can anyone
let me the current situation on the Legian beach people and in
particular about any of the above.
I am loathe to enter the Money Seller forum but for the record the
best, most honest and hassle free seller I have have struck is
AMANDO on Jayakarta corner. He is first class and I found myself
going out of my way just to deal thru him and his staff. (He rents
from the owners of the small hotel on that corner (a Christian Church
group - that may have some bearing!
