Don't take much with you because you will need the suitcase to take home all your treasures! You can wear anything you choose. I wouldn't go with bare midriff, but shorts tea shirts etc are fine. Do take with you if you have one a:
1. Long-ish cotton dress ( it will obviate the need for the sarong particularly if it has sleeves to elbow)
2. A sarong, and waist sash, if you have one (these can double as a long skirt if tied properly)
3. A very thin, long sleeved jacket, something in lace or similar
which can go over very short sleeved tea-shirts or skimpy tops when you visit temples.
And:
Make sure that as many of your clothes as possible are made of cotton
