Of your own admission, you spent 8 days in Kuta/Tuban, and you did not like it. That is not hard to understand, as Kuta/Tuban/Legian are DUMPS. But why stay that long in an environment you did not like in the first place? Or are you some kind of masochist? I spend months and months on the island, and don't even come near the place once. That people spend their good money and stay weeks in Kuta is incomprehensible to me. But it takes all kinds. Actually, I am happy that the Kuta crowd stays there, where they belong, and don't come and pollute the other Bali.
This being said, I am affraid that although you did not like Kuta (for good reasons,) the fact that you did not have the imagination and curiousity to move on says a lot about your mental limitations.
